Almost two years since my last post.......

....and almost two years since my son was born....hmmmm...coincidence??!

I'm finally sewing again and much adventure is happening here with my little fam. We're moving on to a bus....which you can read about and see pics of here www.journeyersofshalom.wordpress.com and I will be having a dedicated sewing day once a week! HOORAY! I've missed delving in to my creative life.....though parenting does encourage different forms of creativity too.

I have an etsy store you can check out www.artymama.etsy.com . If you add me as a fave and subscribe to my RSS feed you'll always know when I've uploaded. Also, I have a facebook page you can 'like' and will give you previews of uploads too.

Christmas Custom Slot

I have decided to offer two custom slots per season, starting with this Christmas. Unfortunately I'm a little late this time to have it completed by Christmas, but it would still make a lovely Christmas present for you or a friend. One custom slot for a mei tai or podegai, fully embroidered, hand dyed, your choice of colours, patchwork reversing to your choice of theme for applique. You tell me your choice of colour and a theme for applique and then leave me to work my majik! I will only be offering 2 custom slots per season, so only eight per year! Deposit is AUD$200 for australian buyers or US$150 for international buyrers and final price will be given when colours, themes etc are discussed. Final payment will need to be made before delivery. Time frame is 4 weeks from date of order. I expect this slot to be in great demand, so immeadiate payment of deposit is required to hold your slot once confirmation is received by you. Here are some exaples of my work so far.

SOLD ~ Dazzling Jewel Garden Skirt

A friend of mine fell in love with this skirt and bought it from me last year. Although she loved the design and colours, the length had her stumped as she is a long skirt kind of mama. It has been hanging in her clothes room ever since with noone able to view it's beauty. She has asked me to resell it for her. New and never worn, only admired and tried on once.

Rich, bright jewel tones of red, purple and blue make up this delightful flowery skirt. A little psychadelic and a lot beautifully bold. This is a knee length, wrap around skirt that would fit ideally a M-L but a little smaller or larger would also fit this one. It has two 'fronts' depending on your mood. I made this in my pre-overlocker days so the seams are straight stitched, zigzagged and top stitched. Be assured though that with love and care this dazzling little skirt will last a lifetime. SOLD US$120 (inc. postage) for international buyers and AUD$145 (inc. postage) for Australiuan buyers.

The Beginning

So, I've done it, I've joined the world of Blogdom. This blog will primarily be a space for me to spruik my wares......until I get my etsy store figured out. To start off with I have on offer my very first podegai baby carrier. The actually started life as a mei tai but was too big so I transformed it into a beuatiful podegai. hand dyed lavender and mint, soft baby cord surround a gorgeous print from the wonderful women of Prints Charming. Hand printed in their little studio in Annandale, Australia. Free machine embroidered spirals and leaves decorate and reinforce the padded straps. Reversing to the gypsies garden fabric. I love this fabric! The colours, the pattern, just gorgeous! I have free machine embroidered over applique leaves and spirals for adornment and the cord at the bottom of the carrier is also embellished with free machine embroidery. One section did slightly gather when I was working my magic....I have adjusted the price accordingly.....it doesn't effect the structure and only effects the beauty slightly. Patchwork ends of the straps, leaf embroidery along edges and reinforced seams are all part of the artymama range. All my carriers and clothing are one off, never to be repeated designs. I follow the flow of the streams of inspiration when I create and it never flows in the same direction. So you can be assured that only you will own a podegai like this! The body ius approx 20" wide and 33" long. Straps are approx. 4" wide and 80" long. This wonderful carrier is US$185 (inc. postage) for international buyers or AUD$220 (inc.postage) for Australian buyers.
